![]() The Event: Swim to Bestival 2008! Date: Friday 5th September Time: When the tide tolls! Description: After the huge success of last year, Hularama decided that we would Swim to Bestival (AGAIN!), and for what better reason... more chariddy man! Hello again everybody, and welcome to the new 2008 site for the crazy water based charity event – ‘Swim2Bestival’. Yes that’s right, we are back and hoping to get across the Solent once more, arriving at the summers’ last great festival exhausted (but in style) and help raise more money and awareness for our chosen charities. We are aiming to raise as much as we can for three important causes; |

| Imibala: a small but worthy charity created to assist underpriviledged children to access an education in South Africa. All funds raised by Imibala go directly to helping these children for example by paying school fees and providing uniforms and resources. Last year we worked closely with one school in particular in Somerset West and we were able to raise some much needed funds to help purchase a school minibus so the primary pupils no longer have to walk miles across dangerous roads and rail tracks to access any sporting facilities. This year we are concentrating on donating money to cover the school fees for sponsored children. | ||||||||||||||
| Island Youth Water Activities Centre (IOW) Ltd. is a voluntary organisation grant aided by the Isle of Wight Youth & Community Service. It is a Charity run for the benefit of all young people on the Isle of Wight. The primary aim being the provision of a variety of water based experiences, which combine challenge, safety and enjoyment. Their secondary aim is to provide training to national standards for young people and potential instructors (of any age). The Centre is committed to providing equal opportunities. | ||||||||||||||
| Hularama have decided to support the good work done by the Gosport branch of the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line. They operate a used furniture shop called ‘Bumps and Scratches’ from ‘Asda’ Gosport’s car park to raise funds and spread awareness of the Chernobyl Children Life Line and the effects of the disaster. ‘Chernobyl Children Life Line looks after children who are ill, organising visits to Great Britain to give them a chance to live in a ‘clean’ environment and eat uncontaminated foods for a month. Some 40,000 children from Belarus have visited Britain since 1992. Many of the families keep in touch with the children and some invite them for return visits each year. The children have medical attention such as dental care and having their eyes tested.’ |
